A documentary with extraordinary and previously unpublished material about the “world‘s foremost composer of tango music” – Astor Piazzolla. The Argentine bandoneon player composer and founder of Tango Nuevo, Astor Piazzolla went through life rebelliously, powerfully and with verve. He did not only make friends, he revolutionized the traditional tango into a new style termed tango nuevo, incorporating elements from jazz, classical music as well as experimental rebellious sounds, thus creating a new and individual musical language of his own. "One [radio station] called me 'murderer', the other 'degenerate'. But I hadn't done anything! I just changed the tango, that's all." (Piazzolla) With wit and charm, archive footage, found footage and memories of his son Daniel - interwoven into a rhythmic composition about Piazzolla's art and family history with its ups and downs. Accompanied by the soulful playing of the bandoneon, director Daniel Rosenfeld brings a piece of musical history to life.
