Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas co-direct this Brazilian coming-of-age drama. In a tough, football-obsessed neighbourhood of San Paolo, Cleuza (Sandra Corveloni) is struggling to bring up her four sons on the poverty line. The boys, despite their very different personalities, harbour a single dream: to become successful football players and transcend their impoverished background.
