Handlingen utspelar sig under Jesus sista tolv timmar, från den sista måltiden till korsfästelsen. Efter att ha tagit farväl av sina lärjungar går Jesus för att be i Getsemanes trädgård. Där möter han Judas, som förråder sin forne mästare och utlämnar honom åt ockupationsmaktens soldater. Skådespelarna talar endast arameiska och latin.
