La Tigre e la Neve vertelt het verhaal van de poëet Attilio de Giovanni (Roberto Benigni) die tot over zijn oren verliefd wordt op oorlogsjournaliste Vittoria (Nicoletta Braschi), die naar Irak wordt gezonden. Hij reist haar achterna, ondanks de oorlog die er plaatsvindt. De film speelt zich af tijdens de inval van de Amerikanen en Geallieerden in Irak in 2004.
