Henri Danglard is eigenaar van het noodlijdende café 'Le Paravent Chinois', waar zijn vriendin Lola de Castro als buikdanseres optreedt. Hij reist af naar Montmarte waar de cancan, een ouderwetse dans, nog steeds gedanst wordt.
