Het verhaal gaat over Sheeta, een meisje met een mysterieuze steen. Ze wordt achterna gezeten door piraten en het leger. Met behulp van de steen kan men namelijk Laputa vinden. Laputa is een legendarische stad die in de lucht zou zweven.
