L'histoire prend place sous la dynastie Joseon. Dol Seok est un tailleur de grande renommée en charge des vêtements royaux. Il travaille en accordant une grande importance au respect des règles et à la rigueur.
Kong Jin, quant à lui, est un tailleur inconnu travaillant à l'instinct et cherchant l'innovation. Un jour, Kong Jin est remarqué par un noble du palais, qui le recommande pour raccommoder un vêtement royal commandé par la Reine pour la cérémonie d'intronisation du nouveau roi.
Kong Jin commence alors à créer des robes pour la Reine d'un style nouveau, ce qui provoque une importante crise politique au palais royal.
