Le gouverneur anglais lord Guillonk (inspiré de James Brooke) a capturé le père de Sandokan, le vieux sultan de Mulader, et a annoncé publiquement l'imminence de son exécution. Pour délivrer son père, Sandokan prépare, avec son ami Yanez, un plan destiné à débarquer sur les côtes de Labuan et à prendre en otage le gouverneur.
