Hung Hsi-kuan s'enfuit d'un temple de Shaolin, qui vient d'être brûlé par les mandchous. Blessé, il croise la route de Fang Shih-yu (Alexander Fu Sheng), un autre héros de Shaolin. Les deux hommes, ignorant leur identité respective, s'affrontent, sans se douter qu'ils sont du même bord. Croyant qu'il s'agit d'un brigand, Fang Shi-yu finit par livrer Hung Hsi-kuan à l'ennemi avant de se rendre compte de son erreur...
