Sung-nam es un pintor coreano de éxito, cuarentón y casado, que se ve obligado a huir a Francia dejando atrás a su mujer. Sorprendido fumando marihuana y en estado de embriaguez, debe abandonar el país para no ir a prisión. Una vez en París, Sung-nam se refugia en una pensión miserable regentada por un coreano. En el transcurso de su vida cotidiana en la ciudad conoce a Hyun-ju, una joven coreana estudiante de arte, y a su compañera Yu-jeong. Sung-nam se enamora perdidamente de esa joven, tan bella como problemática y misteriosa. ¿En qué desembocará la doble vida del pintor ligado a la vez a su mujer y a Yu-jeong, dividido entre Seúl (la noche) y París (el día)?
