Haruka hat eine ganz besondere Bindung zum Wasser und dem Schwimmsport. Der Staffel-Wettkampf in der Grundschule ist sein letztes Rennen, bevor er gemeinsam mit Makoto auf die Mittelschule wechselt und dort ein neues Kapitel seines Lebens beginnt. Beide treten natürlich gleich wieder der Schwimmmannschaft bei und bilden mit Asahi Shiina und Ikuya Kirishima ein Team für Staffel-Wettkämpfe. Schnell wird klar, dass jeder der vier ganz unterschiedliche Beweggründe und Ziele hat, was nicht nur einmal zu Problemen beim Training führt.
