Un maduro homosexual (Michel Serrault) vive desde hace veinte años con su compañero sentimental (Ugo Tognazzi). Cuando el hijo de éste decide casarse con la hija de un rancio funcionario del gobierno, la pareja tendrá que representar una auténtica farsa para disimular su homosexualidad y causar la mejor impresión posible a sus futuros consuegros, lo que dará lugar a situaciones en las que todo lo que puede salir mal, saldrá todavía peor.
