Der iranische Dissident Omid hat im Exil in der DDR gelebt. Nach dem Sturz des Schahs 1979 kehrt er – zusammen mit seiner deutschen Familie – in den Iran zurück. Doch es stellt sich heraus, dass alles anders ist, als gedacht und seine Frau und Tochter immer gefährdeter sind.
