Als einige Freunde der Schauspielerin Liu Jin Shui auf mysteriöse Weise ermordet werden, beginnen Hauptkommissarin Angela und ihre Kollegen Wang Bu’er und Huang Fei Hong in dem Fall zu ermitteln. Eine Hauptverdächtige ist schnell ausgemacht: Liu Jin Shuis betörende Halbschwester Dai Yiyi. Nicht nur, dass sie die Opfer vorher Liu Jin Shui ausgespannt hat, sie hat ihnen auch noch Lebensversicherungen angedreht, bei denen sie die Begünstigte ist. Wang Bu´er spielt den Lockvogel und geht zum Schein eine Verlobung mit Lui Jin Shui ein. Und tatsächlich gerät auch er bald in das tödliche Fadenkreuz des Killers. Doch ist tatsächlich alles so wie es scheint?
