Six days after the accident Debbie wakes to an empty bed. Inconsolable since Alan’s death, she visits the site where she sees his ghost reaching out to her. She turns to see Angela watching as Health and Safety Executive investigators work. The police seem to be focusing their investigations on the kids. And her lawyers are saying they’ll only get a few thousand pounds in compensation. Angela’s taking matters into her own hands by recording everything the HSE do. Elsewhere Polly has managed to drag Iwan to hospital to see Leona. While waiting she encounters a man we saw at the vigil. Polly assumes he’s a journalist and brushes him off. Polly and Iwan speak to Dr Whittaker who tells them that Leona is paralysed, but that her brain damage, which is preventing her from speaking, should recover with time. Iwan is heartbroken when he finally sees his daughter’s state. In London Harriet finds herself confronted by her own legal team suddenly taking a hostile stance. They’ve looked at the CCTV and found that the explosion was caused by gas cannisters that were being improperly stored on site. It looks like Kallbridge may be culpable. In Glyngolau Angela has brought the families together for a meeting. She proposes they get as much press attention as possible by carrying out the funerals as a group, and make sure that those responsible are brought to justice. The families will have to overcome their religious divisions in order to carry out just one ceremony. Tim implores Harriet to see that Kallbridge are going to throw her to the wolves now that there’s evidence of wrongdoing. But he’s dug up emails that show that Alan Kethin, Debbie’s husband, was responsible for the gas cannisters. And as he was an independent contractor, it takes the blame off Kallbrigde. They need to get this information out now. He wants to leak the emails, but Harriet says no. In hospital Polly sits as DS Hendricks questions Leona, who uses a computer to speak for her. DS Hendricks is allaying Polly’s concerns that they’re going to charge her daughter when Angela calls. The newspapers have published a leak from Kallbridge which shows that it was all Alan’s fault. Harriet is furious with Tim for disobeying her. Now there’s palpable tension between Harriet and her boss, Frank, who suspects the leak came from her office. While Harriet’s sceptical of Frank’s choice of lawyer, Laura, who’s disability seems to be a cynical move. And in hospital Polly pays Martin another visit, their connection deepening. A desperate Debbie escapes a swarm of reporters asking about Alan and breaks back into the site where she is dragged to the ground by police. Back at home she then receives a visit from an undertaker, who reveals that Angela has decided that Alan will no longer be part of the communal funeral. Debbie, furious, goes in search of Angela.
