The Germans quickly build up the heavy water factory at Vemork after the sabotage operation. Norsk Hydro's director Bjørn Henriksen sees that he is dangerously close to being branded a war collaborator and is trying to negotiate out of trouble. In England, the Americans decide to bomb Rjukan and the facility on Vemork.

Gunnerside lands on the Hardangervidda and merges with Grouse. February 27, 1943, the 9 saboteurs Rønneberg, Haukelid, Helberg, Poulsson, Kayser, Idland, Strømsheim, Storhaug and Kjelstrup glide down the mountain in the direction of Vemork to blow up the heavy water factory.

Nobel Prize winner Werner Heisenberg needs heavy water, only produced by Norsk Hydro at Vemork, for the reactor he is to build. The heavy water factory's creator, scientist and opponent Leif Tronstad suspects the Germans' heavy water purchases and contacts English intelligence.
