Norsk Hydro's director Bjørn Henriksen sees that he is dangerously close to being branded a war collaborator and is trying to negotiate out of trouble. In England, the Americans decide to bomb Rjukan and the facility on Vemork.

Gunnerside lands on the Hardangervidda and merges with Grouse. February 27, 1943, the 9 saboteurs Rønneberg, Haukelid, Helberg, Poulsson, Kayser, Idland, Strømsheim, Storhaug and Kjelstrup glide down the mountain in the direction of Vemork to blow up the heavy water factory.

The English mission fails and the Allies will now bomb the heavy water factory. Leif Tronstad persuades them to send in a Norwegian special group to blow up the factory. Tronstad gathers the saboteurs, calls the group Gunnerside, and starts training.
