Hank stakes out Zeitlin’s office, but realizes taking direct action against the lawyer is out of the question. Hank and Britt bring the tech-savvy trio of Swift, Gunt, and Blodgett back to Hank’s house; the three squatters sweep the house for bugs… and find six listening devices, which explains how Zeitlin knew about the meeting at Sam’s Liquors. Hank and Britt weigh their dwindling options: they could stay in Ocean Beach and face certain death, or flee south of the border to live out their lives.

11. Sins of the Past

Despite Hank’s efforts to convince him otherwise, Britt packs his things and leaves the apartment he shared with Katie. The partners return to Hank’s house, where they are surprised to discover reporter Laura Ross waiting; she asks Hank if the name “Billy Whitman” rings a bell. He says yes: Whitman was a suspect in the case that cost him his job as a cop, and arguably ruined his marriage. He adds that the case was never solved. Laura thinks she may have solved it.

When Hank’s physical therapist Ryan arrives to continue rehabbing Hank’s shoulder, Ryan mentions that he would be willing to throw in a few extra therapy sessions gratis if they will help his nephew with a sensitive matter. Seeing as how Hank is out of commission for a while, Britt decides to take the job solo. Hank gets a phone call from Maggie; apparently he had asked her to run a name check on Gretchen’s fiancé Jason, and she “got a hit.”

Hank and Britt befriend a college student (Noel Fisher) with amnesia who has a nagging suspicion that he has done something wrong. Meanwhile, Steph makes friends with a little girl who lives across the street from Hank, and is concerned because her parents let her play unsupervised; and Britt is concerned about Katie, who has become "completely distant."
6. Ring-a-Ding-Ding

Hank, Steph, Britt and Katie attend an engagement party for Gretchen and Jason; Britt worries that Jason will recognize him from the tux shop. Hank confesses to his partner that he did in fact use Jason’s stolen credit-card numbers, but says it’s nothing to worry about. Later, Britt tells Hank he wants to propose to Katie.
