It's the day before the big show, but Torkel has vanished without a trace. Mange, Jens, and Peder find a CD in Torkel's room, a love song for Pippi, and Mange understands why Torkel has taken off. While Pippi covers for them, Mange, Jens and Peder try to find Torkel. They eventually locate him at a local sheep farmer's field where he went to find solace.

Boy Machine is ready for Melodifestivalen's first round of competitions in Karlstad, but according to the main betting sites, they're slated to come in last. Stargaze dominates the headlines, and Mange believes that Boy Machine's underdog status is because of too little media exposure. He suggests that Jens make a tearful confession to the press about his glue-sniffing.

The group meets with Christer Björkman who already has a song he wants them to perform, the Spanish-influenced "Vendo Caria." Torkel refuses: They write their own song, or they walk! Meanwhile, Jens gets sad news: Hansi has passed away.

Peder's existential awakening continues. He quits his 5:2 intermittent fasting diet and starts writing pretentious songs about the meaning of life. Pippi regrets sleeping with Mange, but decides to pull herself together and be professional.

Pippi has managed to get the guys booked for a new gig: On a "nineties night" cruise onboard the Finland ferry. Mange is enthusiastic about the possibility of meeting new young groupies, but as usual he greatly overestimates his sexual attractiveness.

Pippi suggests they hire an external songwriter, which hurts Torkel's feelings to the point where he threatens to leave the band. Pippi explains how important Torkel is for Boy Machine, and that he was her idol when she was a teenager.
