Crystal is left to pick up the pieces after the school administration—and a parent from Beacon Academy—pressure her to remedy the situation, and fast. As principal and mom, she's forced to make a tough decision that Filthy can't fully accept. To save Filthy's spot at Beacon, Chuck makes a plea to the head coach—which results in a surprising dilemma. J.B. and Alexis are on bad terms after the rink situation, leading them to both pull away. Maya and J.B. have a heart-to-heart about her worsening family situation.

Filthy and J.B., now both grounded after the events of the rink, are met with a surprise visit from their grandmother, Barbara, and Chuck's childhood best friend, Skinny. Barbara dispenses wisdom to Crystal and Chuck wisdom on staying strong amidst his illness. After a tense family game, Filthy and J.B. finally come to a truce. Reconnecting with family prompts Chuck to make a call to someone he hasn't spoken to in years in a last-chance bid to save his health. Crystal learns that an Instagram video of the kids' fight at the roller ink is making the rounds among faculty and students at the school.

Filthy and his crew are geeked to witness the inner circle of Beacon cool. But a jealous J.B. storms away when their Beacon host, Filthy's hero, makes his interest in Alexis known. To make things right with his brother, Filthy intervenes...which leads to an ugly public fallout. Meanwhile, Chuck and Crystal reconnect on a romantic anniversary date in the city.

Tensions between the twins rise to a boiling point, Crystal improvises a solution, and Chuck is forced to reveal the severity of his health issues. Crystal's new duties as principal are piling on, but she powers through with the conviction that she can do it all. At the same time, Chuck gets devastating news from the doctor that may upend the family as they know it.
