In Moore, Oklahoma, on May 3rd, 1999, a monstrous tornado wiped out a huge section of the town, and shot a wooden stake right through 37 year-old Julie Rakestraw's throat.

9. Motocross Mess

2004 - Season 2

29-year old motocross daredevil, Steve Medrano, attempted the most difficult jump of his life and came up short. On May 20th, 1999 in the Utah desert, Steve's friend Gregg had cameras set up to videotape the 160-foot jump. Steve approached the jump at 80 mph but did not have enough momentum to clear the gap.

8. Paralyzed Player

2004 - Season 2

Caught on tape, 16-year old Sean Denehy went down in a hard-hitting tackle while playing in a football game for Monroe Township High School in New Jersey. Sean couldn't move anything below his neck. Paramedics rushed him to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. His C-4, 5, and 6 vertebrae were crushed together rupturing the discs in-between and shattering the C-5.

7. Shark Attack

On March 23, 1994 Heather Boswell was attacked by a shark - on camera. The 19-year-old galley steward on a scientific research ship was on a swim break in the South Pacific Ocean when one of her shipmates yelled "shark!" She tried to swim to safety, but she wasn't fast enough. The shark pulled her under the water.

6. Dragster Crashes

At the Memphis Motor Sports Park, top-fuel drag-racing champion Tony Schumacher crashed at over 300mph. All caught on tape, the racecar disintegrated after the rear wing broke off during his championship qualifying race on October 7th, 2000.

5. A Jump Too Far

Dan Pastor, 24, is one of the world's top motocross jumpers. On August 10th, 2004 Dan was performing spectacular jumps near Santa Barbara, CA, while a friend filmed him from a helicopter. As the camera zoomed in on Dan, he took an enormous jump, and flew as high as the chopper, before sailing back to earth. But he overshot his landing, and crashed at 70 mph.

4. Indy Driver Hits A Wall

2004 - Season 2

Indy car driver Kenny Brack was racing at the Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas when his car spun out of control and hit a wall at over 200 mph. The race car exploded into pieces, with Kenny's cockpit taking nearly 100 G's of impact - 15 times the force at which airplane fighter pilots pass out.

Extreme Skier Aaron Estrada was known for tearing up the slopes at the US Extreme Skiing Championships. Competitors can choose any line down the mountain. They are judged on the difficulty of that choice, as well as their control, fluidity, technique and aggressiveness. On March 30, 2003, Aaron was determined to push the envelope.

Rod Baird was kayaking down the Chattooga River in North Carolina with a group of friends, when his kayak flipped over, trapping him upside down in an underwater hole.

1. Mountain Lion

2004 - Season 2

It was a pleasant January afternoon and 30-year-old Anne Hjelle and her friend, Debbi, were on one of their frequent mountain bike rides in Orange County, California. After biking for some time, Anne rode out of Debbi's sight, when all of a sudden a mountain lion leapt from the bushes and pounced on Anne, biting deep into her neck and dragging her into the brush.
