Tricky Dick

Plenty has been shown about Richard Nixon from movies, interviews, news reports, specials and documentary style programs. Well "CNN" has scored with this 4 part series called rightfully "Tricky Dick" which shows never before seen footage and clips of his life and political journey. It's full of ups and downs and it's a showcase of a complex and power hungry man. Overall well done a must watch for political and historical buffs.

Admittedly, my rating is based after finishing only one episode.

Curious, I came to Imdb to see what others thought about the production and was rather surprised to see so few reviews.

I wasn't born until 1968, and there was very little taught to us in school about Nixon. (Perhaps there was, but I didn't retain much of it) now that I'm in my 50s, my child raising days over, and my Country in more turmoil than ever, I'm thirsty for knowledge about history. I'm beginning to see such similarities!!

In regards to a few of the reviewers statements. I agree it is important to search for as many sides of a subject matter to get the most accurate info available and most importantly understand how and when you are being swayed.

Although another reviewer mentions that this is a simple retelling of what is already known, If you aren't very familiar with this subject, and appreciate actual recordings (audio and visual) this is a great place to start on your road to further research.

Poorly done-- way too shallow. This is directed at today's low interest and low attention span viewers. Sesame Street level information.

I was a bit hesitant to watch this series, solely because it's produced by CNN. Nowadays, you can't really trust any one news network, solely because each produces their own narrative, manipulating facts to get viewers to think a certain way. Any learned and curious individual these days has to sample news from a wide range of sources to piece together the truth like solving a puzzle. Nevertheless, I am judging this production on the recordings of Nixon that are peppered through this 4-part series. I learned a little more about Richard Nixon than I really cared to. The missing tapes, the deleted 18 minutes from another tape, the obstruction of justice, were all clear signs of how low that a President of the United States is willing to go to maintain power. Impeachment doesn't mean anything. Because a President can easily resign to avoid any legal repercussions. One can lie, cheat, mislead, maybe even have people killed off if it's needed, and there will always more hurdles and barriers for justice than criminal actions.
