Paris 2022. François ist Literaturwissenschaftler und Trinker. Seine Beziehungen zu Frauen sind auf ein Jahr befristet, sein Leben ist ausreichend glücklich. Bis zu dem Tag, als der charismatische muslimische Politiker Mohamed Ben Abbes in Frankreich Staatspräsident wird, das Patriarchat und die Polygamie einführt und François seine Anstellung verliert. In seiner zunehmenden Vereinsamung erreicht ihn das Angebot des Rektors Rediger, seine Lehrtätigkeit an der Sorbonne wieder aufzunehmen, unter einer Bedingung: Er muss zum Islam konvertieren.
